Mississippi Flag

Of all the state flags in all the United States there is only one state flag which still has the Confederate battle flag on it and this is the state flag of the state of Mississippi. As it was adopted in 1894 it would seem that the people who are living in the state capital are still living in something of the past. You would imagine that something like the Confederate flag would be banished from all the you just for the fact of all the things that the Confederacy came to symbolize in America and how it divided our country into. However in 2001 they put a referendum forward to try and change the state flag and get rid of the Confederate flag and this was defeated very overtly by a two thirds majority.
