Bhutan Flag

Known for its thunder, the completely landlocked country of Bhutan is tucked up inside the Himalayan mountains between China and India and they are known for their thunderous mountainous thunder. In some local circles, the country of Bhutan is called the land of the thunder Dragon because of this thunder and the Dragon which is on the country of Bhutan’s flag is emblematic of that.

When you look at the national flag of Bhutan you are immediately reminded of the fact that this is a land which is steeped in mythology and is locked and loaded. With the orange and yellow of the flag's predominant front color which is divided in half, from bottom left top right and a pair of right triangles, you can tell a lot about the psychology the country. It would seem that there is any leniency towards halting and just stopping as the yellow and orange indicate and it would seem that caution is always peaked on high. The flag of Bhutan has been in existence since the 19th century and the current flag has been accepted since 1960. The thunder Dragon which is presented on the front of this flag actually has jewels in its grasp which represent the wealth of the country and the yellow represents a secular monarchy in the orange represents Buddhism. While this is what the history books will tell you, it when you speak to the people who are visiting Bhutan or the people who live there they may tell you a little bit of a different story. While the history of the Bhutan flag is steeped in mythology there is a whole bunch of other things people need to understand about this before they are able to gain a full appreciation for the culture and history and folklore of the flag of Bhutan.
