If you have ever been to New York City on a weekend where there happened to be a parade of some kind going on; Memorial Day, Thanksgiving Day, Columbus Day, etc; then you were probably aware of this fact and ready for the inconvenience that goes along with that. If you were ever in New York city and you happened to stumble upon a parade that you didn’t really know was going on; Gay Pride, Vietnam Veterans Memorial; then maybe you were a little off put but you still managed to do your business and go upon your daily life. People from the DR are very proud of their heritage though and no where is this more evident than when there is some occasion to fly a flag and run around screaming at one another. The Dominican Republic Flag is a coveted prize among those of this heritage and is a clever window into a type of pride many of us would have difficulty understanding.
