Vatican Flag

While the Vatican isn’t a country it is it’s own sovereign territory and created in 1929 by treaty it is the smallest independent state in the world and as such needs to have its own flag. The 108 acres that is the Vatican City has one of only two square flags in the world. The flag was adopted by Pope Pius XI and is yellow on the left and white on the right and is divided in half equally. On the white half of the Vatican flag is the Vatican coat of arms which is made up of the papal tiara, two keys representing the keys to heaven, and a red chord which connects the two keys.
